Ado McGuinness landed the Ahonoora Handicap in 2010 with Toufan Express and lightning struck again 10 years on after Current Option repeated the dose under a cracking ride from Gavin Ryan. The valuable €90,000 contest was a second Premier Handicap win for the 4 year old gelding who landed the Sovereign Path Handicap on Champions Weekend last year. It capped a great week for Dooley Thoroughbreds who had 3 winners and a placed runner from 6 runners.

It also capped a memorable week for B T O’Sullivan whose son James also sponsors the stable and is involved in the Colm Quinn BMW Mile winner Saltonstall. It was a magic training performance from the Ado McGuinness Racing Team and Ado commented that Current Option would now be heading for Stakes races. “He is one of the best horses I have ever trained and I am looking forward to the rest of the season with him. My son Tadhg has done a great job settling this horse and has been a major factor in the horses’ progression”.

Shamrock Thoroughbreds are also partners in this special horse and was sourced at the July Sales in 2019 by Shamrock for £85,000. “It is incredible to see the rate of progression and improvement this horse has shown in a little over 12 months. He is a credit to the Ado McGuinness Racing Team and his connections. Hopefully there are lots of big days ahead”, Stephen Thorne, Shamrock Thoroughbreds
