Dream Today under our apprentice Cian McRedmond produced a late effort to win the feature race on Friday night, the BetVictor Casino Handicap for owners Shamrock Thoroughbreds.
The Dream Ahead gelding who has been running consistently this season, jumped nicely out of the gates and was held up in rear of mid-division before Cian asked for an effort 2 furlongs out and despite some traffic problems, he finished strongly to lead close home from the Patrick McKenna-trained No Speed Limit to win by three quarters of a length.
Speaking afterwards, Ado said “To me he shouldn’t have been 20/1 on the form book. The handicapper gave him 3lb for being third here the last night when the first and second favourite tonight were in front of him. We had a weight swing and I thought the six would suit him better. He travelled very sweet and we were very happy with him. He’ll probably get a bit of a break now and come back later in the campaign. Cian gave him a great ride tonight, there was plenty of pace, and I was delighted with him. It’s great for the boys.”
