Current Option provided trainer Ado McGuinness and owners Dooley Thoroughbreds, Shamrock Thoroughbreds and B T O’Sullivan with their first Stakes winner in the Listed Platinum Stakes at Cork. Current Option was backing up a big Premier Handicap win at the Galway Festival only 6 days prior to winning this valuable black type event.

The plan now is to take another step forward and trainer Ado McGuinness believes he is capable of even more. “Current Option was very impressive and we are hoping he can progress even more. Races such as the Group 2 Park Stakes at Doncaster and the G3 Concorde Stakes at Tipperary are well within his compass. He may also get an entry in the G1 Prix de Foret but we will have to see how much he progresses between now and then. I want to thank my Team at home for doing an amazing job with this horse. It has been a memorable few weeks and to cap it off with my first Stakes winner is unbelievable”.

Shamrock Thoroughbreds have officially sourced their first black type winner and Managing Director Stephen Thorne commented, “This has been a massive Team effort and I am very grateful to everyone for making days like this happen”.
