Lisieux lost her maiden tag on her fourth attempt when landing the Irish EBF Auction Series Nursery Handicap at Nass on Sunday under Ronan Whelan for owners Shamrock Thoroughbreds & M.Gérard Augustin-Normand.

The Camacho filly who was having for first run in handicap company broke nicely & settled in behind the early pacesetters Biggerthanbigtime and Hasten Slowly until Ronan asked for an effort a furlong and a half out where she stayed on strongly to beat her stablemate Distillate by 2 and a half lengths.

Speaking afterwards, Stephen Thorne said “She’s a filly that we bought for €10,000 at the Breeze-Up in Goresbridge and has taken a bit of time to come to hand. She was a typical Breeze-Up horse in that she wasn’t ready to run. She was fizzy and we had to let her down and give her time.

She has pretty much learned on the job from run to run and the plan was to come here with a huge pot of money for the grade of the race. Her family are bred to handle juice in the ground so we were hopeful that she would handle it.

It was a fantastic result and she is owned in partnership by Shamrock Thoroughbreds and Mr. Augustin-Normand who is a big supporter of the stable as well”.
