Pierre Lapin headed his stablemate Cordouan on the line at Dundalk last Friday night to gain his first success for the yard when landing the Haughain Solicitors Handicap under apprentice Adam Caffrey.
The 5yo Cappella Sansevero gelding was held up in mid-division early on until Adam asked for an effort over 2 furlongs out where he stayed on strongly under pressure to nab the Dooley Thoroughbreds-owned Cordouan on the line to win by a nose.
Speaking afterwards, Ado said “It’s been a long time coming for Pierre Lapin and I thought he was after being beaten again.
I’m delighted with the two horses, they’ve both ran crackers and the two apprentices gave them both great rides. They didn’t go a mad gallop, in all fairness to this horse he just stays and gallops. He did it well.
He’s been running consistently well all year in some big premier handicaps and he’s a good horse. He’s after booking his ticket for another year in the place.
Cordouan is a smashing horse, he’s very green but he’ll be fine.”
