Dooley and Shamrock Thoroughbreds have had a memorable 2020 season so far and Politicise reached another milestone for the red-hot syndicates by winning the Lartigue Hurdle at Listowel on Monday. He was given a great ride by Darragh O’Keeffe who had the Camelot gelding prominently placed throughout the race and quickened up well to beat Anna Bunica comfortably at the line.
He is a horse who will be a strong contender for some of the valuable handicap hurdles at the spring and summer festivals next season. He is likely to be campaigned back on the flat before having a well deserved winter break.
“It’s been 16 years since I won the Lartigue Hurdle with Victram and today brings back fond memories of him. He was a horse of a lifetime and I think Politicise will be aimed at one of the big handicaps, the County Hurdle or Galway Hurdle next season. He has the rating now to get into those sort of races and he’s a horse we are looking forward to next year”, commented trainer Ado McGuinness.
“I am thrilled to have won such a prestigious and valuable race with this horse and a lot of my family and friends are involved in him along with my other Shamrock clientele and Dooley Thoroughbreds. It’s been a season to remember and I am really looking forward to next season with this horse. Many congratulations to the Ado McGuinness Racing Team who work so hard to make days like this happen.”, Stephen Thorne of Shamrock Thoroughbreds.
