Distillate and Star Harbour both took honours in Bellewstown last Thursday with both scoring for the team under the excellent hands of both of our apprentices Cian MacRedmond and Adam Caffrey.
Distillate, who was unlucky in his last outing in Down Royal on Monday, prevailed by 3 lengths from Act Of Unity under Cian to win the Goodenuftoeat Event Catering Handicap.
Speaking afterwards, Ado said, “Distillate has been running well all summer but she prefers a good cut in the ground. She is entered to run again in Navan next Wednesday and I’d imagine she will as it will be the last time she runs in this grade for a while.
The second leg of the double was landed 35 minutes later when Star Harbour got up in the final 50 yards under Adam to land the Floodlit Friday Nights At Dundalk H´cap.

Speaking afterwards, Ado said, “Cian and Adam are two very important lads in my place and my place wouldn’t function without them. They ride all the work and they are very good lads.

Star Harbour won a good pot of money in the racing league last month and he came off the bridle as well then and then he comes back on it, he’s a bit of a grinder. I was a bit concerned about the ground today as he would want nicer ground but he’s a smart horse, a great fun horse.

The Total Recall boys have had great fun with him and have gone back and forth to England with him to that Racing League. They have been very lucky with me, they are with me since I started and are a very loyal bunch. I’m delighted for them.

We’re looking forward to next year again with him. We’ll probably run him on the last day in Leopardstown, in the mile-and-a-half handicap there. He’s a handicapper over hurdles and we might try the hurdles again.”
