Recent £50,000 Goffs UK Doncaster Breeze-Up purchase Rush Queen got off the mark at the second time of asking while staying on strongly to land the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden under Ben Coen for owners Shamrock Thoroughbreds in Listowel on Sunday last.

Having broken steadily from the gates, the Ardad filly raced in touch with the early leaders before Ben asked for an effort a little over 2 furlongs out to close down on market leader Ashwiyaa who then drifted out towards the standside to allow the fast finishing Rush Queen up the inner to score by a neck.
Speaking afterwards, Ado said, “It was a last minute plan to come but we had made the entry. She ran a blinder on her first run at the Curragh last week and didn’t do herself justice. They got racing very early and greenness told but I knew she’d improve a lot.

She did it very smartly there, Ashwiyaa wandered but she stuck her head down and galloped to the line. She is still immature and is a lovely filly.

People used to say I couldn’t train juveniles but I’ve ran two this year and both have now won. I’m delighted and it’s great for Shamrock Thoroughbreds which Stephen set up. This is another breeze-up filly and we’ve ran and won with two this year.”
