Saltonstall gained the 5th success of his career when bolting up in the feature Munster Mile Handicap at Limerick on Saturday under a confident ride from the talented apprentice Sam Ewing. This was an impressive performance from the dual Galway Mile hero and the 6yo son of Pivotal has been a dream horse for owners Dooley Thoroughbreds and B T O’Sullivan who is also the stable sponsor.
Ado commented afterwards, “I couldn’t believe how well he was travelling and he was probably flattered by the winning distance as he probably handled the heavy ground better than the rest of them. I am hoping the handicapper won’t be too harsh on him and we will make plans once his new mark is published on Monday. I would like to think the Glencairn Listed Stakes over a mile at Naas would be a realistic target for him now early next month”.
“I would like to thank the Team for all their hard work in recent weeks and months. It is a testing time for everyone and I’m glad the horses have continued to perform very well on the racecourse. That’s our 21st winner of 2020 and hopefully our good run of form can continue to the end of the turf campaign and into the All-Weather season at Dundalk”.
This was another successful purchase by Shamrock Thoroughbreds for €44,000 at the Goffs HIT sale in 2018 on behalf of Dooley Thoroughbreds and B T O’Sullivan.
