Star Of Cashel gained his first success for the team when landing Division 1 of the Rose Hotel Handicap under our apprentice Adam Caffrey at Listowel on Tuesday.

The 5yo No Nay Never gelding broke quickly from a wide draw and settled well behind front runner Sheila. Adam made his move 2 furlongs out where he then took the lead and stayed on strongly to win by a 3 half a lengths from the early pacesetter.

Speaking afterwards, Ado said “That’s not before his time but he had slipped down the ratings and had a good record at this track.

Adam was very good on him, he was drawn way out and gave him a positive ride. He made his mind up for him jumping out so quick and that as a big factor, especially around here.

He is good value for 7lb, that was a great ride and the way he jumped out won that race.

He is in again at the Curragh on Sunday and will probably run there.”
